The Youth Challenge Bettye Collier Women's Home
The Dr. Wilson Hawks family donated this beautiful four-story mansion. It is over 100 years old and is on the Virginia Registry of Historical Homes. The beautifully decorated rooms add to the cheerful atmosphere of the women's home. We can house up to fifteen (15) female students in this facility. The Youth Challenge Women's program consists of 12-15 months of training at the Bettye Collier Women's Home. While in the program they receive applicable Biblical training which helps them become the productive family member and responsible citizen that God created them to be. There are various other educational opportunities such as G.E.D. classes and community based training groups.
In addition to the day to day upkeep of the facility, the women play a major role in the operation of the Youth Challenge Thrift Store, and also are active in various other communuity service projects.
Regularly attending church services and singing on the Youth Challenge Choir also instills a sense of committment and responsibility in the women.
Upon completion of the program students can opt to stay on as an intern and or can enter the re-entry program, where they will be offered assistance with job placement, continued education, housing, etc.
